With her phenomenal Bronze medal winning time of 9:42 in the 3000m at the Canadian Junior Track and Field Championships this past weekend in Laval, Quebec, Niagara Olympic Club’s Heather Petrick has qualified to represent Canada at the upcoming Pan Am Junior games being held August 23-25 in Medellin Colombia.
Heather was in the enviable position of being able to choose which event she would compete in at the Pan Am Jr games. She had previously qualified in the 5000 m with her Ontario record breaking run at the NCAA “Gina Relay” in Hillsdale Michigan this past April. She has chosen the 3000m as this is a race she has more experience running.
The selection to the Canadian Pan Am Jr team caps off a highly successful season for Heather, in which she was Silver medalist at the indoor provincial BMJ championships in the 3000m, set the Ontario U19 5000m record, placed 6th in the 1500 and 3000m at OFSAA in personal best times, and most recently was Bronze medalist in the 3000m at the Canadian Junior championships.
Now that’s being a high flier!
