ST-THERESE – The Canadian Junior Track and Field Championships kick off tomorrow in St-Therese, Que. 546 athletes (297 male, 249 female) will converge at Richard Garneau Stadium competing for the national junior titles.
Entries:
834 total entries – 440 male / 394 female
Most entries on the track:
Men’s 200m > 50 entries
Women’s 200m > 47 entries
Most entries in throwing events:
Men’s discus > 14 entries
Women’s discus > 17 entries
Most entries in jumping events:
Men’s high jump > 24 entries
Women’s triple jump > 23 entries
Canadian Record Holders (pending 2013 ratification)
Men’s 100m – Andre De Grasse (10.25)
Men’s 1500m – Adam Palamar (3:38.92)
Men’s Pole Vault – Shawnacy Barber (5.71m)
Women’s Pole Vault – Robin Bone (4.22m)
Pan American Junior Championships Selection Trials
The Canadian Junior Championships will also serve as the selection trials for the 2013 Pan American Junior Championships. The top 2 athletes who have achieved the standard within the qualifying period will be selected, provided they finish minimally top three this weekend.
