In the boy’s high jump Paul Galas of Mississauga, Ont., qualified for the final by placing fifth in his qualification group clearing a personal best of 2.09 metres. James Elson of North Vancouver, B.C., does not advance but registered a personal best of 2.04 metres. The high jump final is on Saturday at 10:15am eastern time (ET).
Carter Day of Windsor, Ont., finished fifth in his 800-metres semi final in 1:53.69 and does not advance to the final. Daniel Brady of Toronto, Ont., placed eighth in his 400-metre hurdles semi final and does not advance.
In the girl’s 400-metres semi final both Kendra Clarke of Edmonton, Alta., and Mariam Abdul-Rashid of Oshawa, Ont., finished seventh in their respective heats. Kendra clocked 56.01 and Mariam 56.70 seconds; neither advance.
Kailee Sawyer of Waterloo, Ont., qualified for the 800-metres semi final which takes place tomorrow at 11:50amET. Sawyer clocked 2:09.59 finishing third in her opening heat. Bridget O’Neill of Oakville, Ont., clocked 2:13.50 and does not advance.
Mississauga, Ont.’s Leya Buchanan crossed the finish line in 12.29 seconds during the 100-metres semi final; she does not advance. Stephanie Cho of Vancouver, B.C., ran a personal best in the 400-metre hurdles with 1:00.05 but does not advance to the final.
In the girl’s shot put qualification both Obeng Marfo of Etobicoke, Ont., and Taylor Stutely of Pickering, Ont., do not advance to the finals. They registered 14.67 and 13.89 metres respectively.
110-metre hurdles runner Mihailo Stefanovic of New Westminster, B.C., clocked a personal best time of 13.98 seconds and qualifies for the semi final which is tomorrow at 10:45amET. Locky Butcher of London, Ont., finished with a personal best time of 14.15 seconds but does not advance.
In the boy’s 3000-metres Chance Harbour, N.B.’s Joshua Shanks qualified for the final that will run on Sunday at 8:45amET. Josh finished fifth in his heat in 8:32.36. Maple Ridge, B.C.’s Nathan Wadhwani finished his heat in ninth with 8:42.90 and just misses qualifying for the final.
Both Riley Alvarez of Waterloo, Ont., and Liam Kennell of Victoria, B.C., do not advance in the boy’s 1500-metres. Riley finished 11th in his heat in 4:05.91 while Liam finished 8th in his heat in 3:59.59.
In the qualification pole vault Emma Li of Markham, Ont., was unable to register a mark.
