Aaron Brown of Toronto, Ont., Jessica Furlan of Regina, Sask., and Brianne Theisen-Eaton from Humboldt, Sask., all set new Canadian all-time bests in a span of just over 12 hours.

Aaron Brown of Toronto, Ont., set a new Canadian record of 20.16 (+0.5) in the men’s 200-metres at the NCAA West Regional Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Brown, who competes for the USC Trojans, said on Twitter, "Appreciate all the love! Came out healthy and it’s all coming together at the right time. On to Eugene (2014 NCAA Championships) for my final collegiate meet." Until yesterday Atlee Mahorn owned the best Canadian mark in the 200-metres of 20.17 set in 1991.

Jessica Furlan of Regina, Sask., set a new Canadian record of 9:48.89 in the women’s 3000-metres steeplechase at the Speed River Inferno in Guelph, Ont. Furlan’s time improved Carol Henry’s previous national best of 9:51.10 set in 2002. Furlan said via Twitter, "Inspiration for tonight’s race found on the inside of my running tops (Run fast live fearless). I’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain."

Brianne Theisen-Eaton of Humboldt, Sask., finished second in the heptathlon at the prestigious Hypo-Meeting IAAF World Combined Events Challenge in Götzis, Austria. Her score of 6641 points broke Jessica Zelinka’s Canadian record of 6599 points set at the 2012 Canadian Track and Field Olympic Trials.

Theisen-Eaton’s record-breaking performance by the numbers

100-metre hurdles: 13.18 seconds for 1097 points.

High jump: 1.87-metres for 1067 points

Shot put: 13.29-metres for 747 points

200-metres: 23.52 seconds for 1027 points

Long jump: 6.59-metres for 1036 points

Javelin: 42.78-metres for 721 points

800-metres: 2:11.31 for 946 points

Heptathlon total: 6641 points
